Olympic Torch Bearer Final Stretch ~ Call for Nominations Closed

The Chestermere Olympic Torch Relay Celebration Community Task Force collected nominations of the Final Stretch Torch Bearer who will run the last 300 meters to the Cauldron located in John Peake Park. The Final Stretch Torch Bearer will have the honor & privilege of lighting the Cauldron during the event on January 19th, 2010. Three semi-final candidates have been chosen from all submitted nominations by the Chestermere Celebration Task Force. The names of the three semi-finalists’ has been sent to the Olympic Torch Relay Committee for the final selection.

Torch Runners

• Residents of Chestermere and the MD of Rocky View who are anxious to catch the Olympic Spirit will have the opportunity to see the Olympic Flame in person, January 19, 2010 as it stops in Chestermere for a celebration on its way towards the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

• The Torch Relay route is available at vancouver2010.com and information on how residents can apply to be torchbearers can be found at icoke.ca and rbc.com/carrythetorch.
